Drinking Dust
Choreographers/performers Megan and Jessica Kennedy had to transpose their work from the original atmospheric location in the historic Smock Alley Theatre to a spic-and-span studio. This was accomplished with considerable success.
The increased intimacy afforded by the proximity to the performers’ bodies enhanced the immersion of the spectators into the dream world of memories created by the cast of two dancers, a sixty-year-old man and a six-year-old girl.
Having almost identical physiques, the sisters’ playful use of synchrony and asynchrony often created eerie doubling and echoing effects that were well suited to the piece’s theme of “abandoned memories”.
